Is the new 4-star Captain America worthy to summon the power of Mjolnir?! Find out via the latest developer blog and check him out in the game and see for yourself!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Captain America summoned the power of Mjolnir in Marvel Puzzle Quest? Well the wait is over, as we are super excited to announce that Captain America is all charged up and ready to throw down the hammer against his enemies starting today in the game! In Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame, Captain America is such an iconic character and we really wanted to grasp that and make sure that the design couldn’t be like any other Cap. It was challenging to create a version of Steve Rogers that was recognizable but intrinsically linked with the powers of Thor, both in and out of our game. Want to see how he looks in the game? Check out these screenshots and then read on for some tips on how to incorporate him into your roster.
This version of Captain America can really lay the smack down on his opponent with his usage of both his strikes and the matches that great created from his Passive. By taking blows meant for his team, Cap creates tiles that immediately feed back into his ability to take the fight to the enemy. Free matches are always great! On the offensive side, Charged tiles have always been a favorite mechanic in Marvel Puzzle Quest. Normally though, the risk of enemies matching your created Charged tiles make them a bit of a gamble. Bringing Captain America’s Red Passive to the table is a fun way of how, in the creation of a character, mechanics and gameplay can bring the feel of Captain America bringing up a perceived weakness then punishing the opponent when they try to take advantage of it. Cap is all about the team play while bringing his own power to the battle, and Mjolnir lets him do it in a way that no other Marvel Puzzle Quest has been able to. Steve is a great team player with other charged tile generators and characters that can benefit from his AP generation capabilities. He can strike out on his own as a heavy hitter, but also has the great potential to support his team.
Stepping back into a design standpoint, this version of Captain America represents a really cool moment for the character and we’re excited to be able to bring that to Marvel Puzzle Quest. We pushed to capture not only that moment in the fight in Endgame with Cap leaping and striking on the offensive, but also pulling back and allowing his team to take to the fore when it made sense. We’re really looking forward to seeing that level of awesome mashed up with the other Marvel craziness already in the game.
We really hope you enjoy his release in Marvel Puzzle Quest and we look forward to everyone’s feedback. To learn more about his powers, please visit our FAQ HERE for more details.
Thank you!
